Foothill Guide is more than just a portal and even more than an average online community. Residents of the foothills are proud of where they live, both within their individual community and the foothills at large. Most communities either focus on Sacramento and include neighboring cities almost as an afterthought. Others may concentrate solely on businesses and not provide a medium for residents to communicate.

Foothill Guide is a business portal offering information on local businesses; a low-cost real estate listing service for local properties; community forums; community events calendar; and classifieds. That is the broad brush description. Foothill Guide is made up of smaller sites, the individual city sites where visitors may search businesses in that community, find real estate and converse with other residents in the forums.

Foothill Guide is free for visitors for most services. We only charge a nominal fee for premium business listings and real estate listings. A business can add a free basic listing which includes name, address, and phone number. The premium listing ($29.95/yr) adds a business description, photo, link to website, and map. A real estate listing is just $25.00 and includes up to eight photos and full description with an exhaustive feature list.

Foothill Media Inc., the creator of Foothill Guide, has been building communities for over ten years. One thing we have found is that residents are not the only site visitors that find value in a community. Visitors planning to visit the area either on vacation or business utilize the site to find businesses, services, and events. This contributes a great deal to local business success. Tahoe bound travelers can find places to stop for food or shopping before they ever leave their house.

The original concept for Foothill Guide was developed in 2004. It was developed slowly over the next few years to ensure that no shortcuts were made due to financial or time restraints.
